ComBase
ComBase Proves “we’re a good read”
ComBase – the Canadian Community Newspaper
Database – is modeled along the same lines as NADbank
and PMB, in that it is an independent research company
and run by a Tri-Partite Board of Directors. The study is now the
recognized source of title-specific, market-by-market
audience numbers in Canada for BOTH daily and
community newspapers, and is the only source for
credible research for many of Canada’s small to medium
sized markets. In fact, there is no national readership
study of community newspapers in North America or
elsewhere of this nature, especially one so comprehensive
and with the ability to provide cross-tab, reach/frequency
and optimization analysis through recognized software
planning programs developed by Harris Media and
IMS. The first wave of data has been available to media
planners and buyers since October 2003, and additional
markets including Manitoba were released during Fall
2004. A second wave of research is currently in the field,
and will be released before the end of 2005.
AdWest is pleased to represent the largest collection
of community newspapers in Canada participating in
ComBase. With 80% of markets across the prairies
available, advertisers can take a closer look at 190
markets including Northern Canada (6), Manitoba (35),
Saskatchewan (81), and Alberta (68), as well as looking
ahead to the addition of key markets such as Winnipeg and
Edmonton in the next release.
Ask us about accessing detailed readership reports to:
- Retrieve average issue readership by title
- Compare media behaviours for all print media from
one source
- Make informed choices in cluttered competitive
markets
- Find new opportunities in previously unmeasured and
unevaluated markets
We have included some interesting top-line readership
charts in this section for your reference. As well,
“snapshot” reports can be viewed for each participating
market on www.adwest.ca.
